Title 38 U.S.C. 1151 Claims
If you suffered additional disability while receiving VA hospital care, medical or surgical treatment, or examination; pursuing a course of vocational rehabilitation (under 38 U.S.C. Chapter 31); or participating in compensated work therapy (under 38 U.S.C. 1718), you may be eligible for compensation.
Are you eligible for compensation?
- You have an additional disability resulting from VA medical treatment or care, or from participation in VA vocational rehabilitation or compensated work therapy.
Who is covered
How it works
When filing your claim, you should submit evidence that the additional disability occurred as a result of VA medical care, or from participation in VA vocational rehabilitation or compensated work-therapy programs. The additional disability cannot be a reasonably expected result of or complication from treatment.
Compensation payments are awarded in the same manner as if the disability is service connected.
